Privacy Policy
Who we are
Headstart is a study app made by Arthion Global Private Limited ("Arthion Global", "we", "us"), a company registered in India (CIN U62099MH2026PTC469715), with its registered office at Unit No 2, 4th Floor, A Wing, Time Square Building, Marol Naka, Mumbai 400059, Maharashtra, India. We decide how your information is used in Headstart and are responsible for it.
The short version
- Your study sets live on your phone. If Cloud sync is on (it is unless you turn it off), a copy is kept on our server so you can restore it or use it on another device.
- When you build a set, the notes, link or files you give us are sent to an AI service to create your flashcards, mind map and practice questions. We don't keep that material after the build, and the AI service is not allowed to use it to train its models.
- You can use Headstart without giving us your name or email. If you sign in, we keep your email address so you can get back into your account.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics, and we never sell your information.
- If you pay for Plus or Pro, Google Play takes the payment. We never see your card or bank details.
- You can export everything, or delete everything, from the app's Profile screen at any time.
What we collect, and why
On your phone
Your folders, flashcards, mind maps, practice sets, review history and settings are stored in Headstart's own storage on your phone. Android's backup can copy this to your Google account under Google's terms, like other apps' data.
Your account
The first time Headstart needs our server, it creates an account with a random number and nothing else. If you sign in, we also keep:
- your email address (from a sign-in code we email you, or from Google or Apple), and your name if Google or Apple gives it to us or you type one;
- the ID that Google or Apple uses for your account, so the same sign-in finds the same account;
- for each signed-in device: whether it is Android or iOS, when it signed in and was last used, and a scrambled (hashed) copy of its sign-in key;
- your plan (Free, Plus or Pro).
We use these only to run your account and keep it secure.
Material you build from
When you paste notes, add a web link or choose files (PDF, Word, PowerPoint or images), Headstart sends them to our server. For a link, our server fetches that page. The material is then sent to our AI service, currently Google's Gemini models, reached through Vercel's AI Gateway, which returns your study set. We process the material only for that build and don't store it. We require the AI service not to use your material to train its models. The AI provider may keep requests for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring, under its own terms.
Please don't upload material that contains other people's personal information unless you have the right to use it.
Your study data, when Cloud sync is on
A copy of your folders, sets, cards, mind maps, practice questions and answers, review history and study sessions is kept on our server under your account. We use it only to sync your devices and restore your data. You can turn Cloud sync off, or choose Local-only to stop Headstart contacting our server at all, in Profile.
Build records
For each build we record when it ran, the kind of material (notes, link or file), its length in words, the AI model, the amount of AI processing used and whether it worked. We use this for your weekly AI budget, daily limits and our costs. It never includes the material itself.
Reports
If you report a flashcard, practice question or mind map as offensive or wrong, we receive a copy of it, the reason you chose, any note you write, and your account's ID if you have one. It is emailed to our team to review, and we delete it after 90 days.
Network information
To stop abuse, such as one person creating thousands of accounts, our server counts requests per internet connection. We store only a coded (hashed) form of the connection's address, never the address itself, and delete it within two days. Our hosting provider's system logs may also record connection details for a short time to keep the service running.
Purchases
If you subscribe to Plus or Pro, Google Play handles the payment, and its terms and privacy policy apply to it. We never see your card or bank details. Google tells our server about the subscription: the plan and how often it is billed, its order number, when the current period ends, whether it renews, and the purchase token that identifies it. We keep these with your account to give you the plan, and check the subscription with Google again about once a day, so a renewal, cancellation or refund reaches your plan. Only signed-in accounts can subscribe.
Emails we send
We email you only to send a sign-in code when you ask for one. We keep a record of each code request, with a scrambled copy of the code, for about a day.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising or analytics tools in the app.
- We never sell or rent your information.
- Headstart doesn't access your contacts, location, camera or microphone. It reads only the files and images you choose.
Who helps us run Headstart
These companies process information for us, only to provide Headstart:

We may also share information if the law requires it, or with a buyer if Arthion Global's business is sold, who would then have to follow this policy.
Where your information is stored
Our server and database are in the United States. Arthion Global is based in India, so the people who run Headstart may access your information from India, using the same protections described here.

Your choices and rights
- See and take your data: Profile → Export my data saves everything as a file.
- Correct it: change your name in Profile, or write to us.
- Delete it: see Delete your account.
- Keep it on your phone only: Profile → Local-only.
- Complain or ask: write to privacy@arthiongroup.com. We answer within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, the law may give you more rights. Write to us and we will help.
If you live in the United States
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising.
- Some states, such as California, Virginia and Colorado, give residents the right to know what we hold about them, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. Use any of these rights by writing to privacy@arthiongroup.com. We won't treat you differently for using them.
- To protect your account, we answer requests sent from your account's email address, or after confirming you control it. Someone you authorize in writing can make a request for you.
- Do Not Track: Headstart doesn't track you across other apps or websites, so it works the same whether or not your browser or device sends a Do Not Track signal.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile → Delete everything. This deletes your account and everything stored with it on our server, and clears Headstart on that phone. It does not cancel a Plus or Pro subscription: cancel that in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions), or it keeps renewing. Without the app, see Delete your account or write to privacy@arthiongroup.com from your account's email address. We delete within 30 days, and copies in backups disappear within 7 days after that.
Children
Headstart is for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, use Headstart only with your parent's or guardian's permission. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe one has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Information travels between the app and our server encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in keys and codes are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form. Access to the server and database is limited to the people who build and run Headstart. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We will post any new version at this address with its date, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
